The CEO married a maid with three children by different men… but when she undressed on their wedding night, the man was stunned by what he saw!
PART 2
When Nathan saw his wife’s body, he froze.
It was not what the gossip of the staff had led him to expect. It was not the body of a woman who had borne three children by three different men, the body the rumors had built. There were no stretch marks of motherhood, no signs of the three pregnancies the whole household had whispered about.
Instead, across Emily’s torso and side, there were scars. Long, careful surgical scars, old and faded but unmistakable. The kind of scars left not by childbirth but by major operations. One ran along her side where a kidney would be. Another crossed her abdomen. A third, smaller, near her collarbone, the mark of a long-term medical port.
Nathan reached out and gently touched the largest scar, and Emily flinched, then went still, her eyes lowered, bracing for something.
“Emily,” Nathan said softly. “What is this? These aren’t, these aren’t from having children.”
A tear slipped down her cheek. “No,” she whispered. “They’re not.”
“The staff said you had three children. By different men. You send your whole salary home to them. Johnny, Paul, and Lily. Everyone thought—”
“I know what everyone thought,” Emily said, and her voice was tired in a way that went all the way to the bone. “I let them think it. It was easier than the truth. The truth, people don’t know what to do with the truth. The truth makes them uncomfortable. A loose woman with three bastards, that they understand. That, they can gossip about and feel superior to. So I let them believe it.”
Nathan sat down on the edge of the bed, his heart pounding. “Then tell me the truth. Who are Johnny, Paul, and Lily? And where did these scars come from?”
Emily pulled her robe back around herself, sat down beside him, and finally, on her wedding night, told the man she had married the story she had hidden from everyone.
