PART 3 – The Truth the Harrington Family Could No Longer Ignore

Richard turned toward the crowd.

“My family has spent generations building a reputation,” he began.

“Not because of wealth.”

“Because we believed character mattered more than status.”

His disappointed gaze settled on Andrew.

“You saw this happen.”

Andrew lowered his head.

“Yes.”

“And what did you do?”

Silence.

Richard didn’t raise his voice.

“I spent thirty years teaching my grandson that protecting someone’s dignity costs nothing.”

He looked around the ballroom.

“Apparently that lesson failed tonight.”

Then he faced Serena.

“I’ve reviewed security footage from the entrance hall.”

Confusion spread across the room.

Richard continued.

“I received a message before arriving.”

“The footage clearly shows you deliberately damaging Miss Carter’s gown after telling another guest you intended to embarrass her.”

Serena’s confidence vanished.

“I… it wasn’t…”

Richard calmly raised a hand.

“There is no need to explain.”

“The cameras already have.”

Several board members exchanged uneasy glances.

They had not realized Richard had been informed before entering the ballroom.

Everything they witnessed had already been documented.
