After Years of Marriage I Still Couldn’t Get Pregnant, So My Mother-In-Law Drugged My Husband and Sent Another Woman to His Bed, Never Imagining I Would Quietly Send That Woman to My Father-In-Law’s Room Instead
Part 4
In the days that followed, Sabrina Reyes vanished completely.
Thanks to that, I was able to rest through my pregnancy in peace.
A few months later, I gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Sabrina Reyes also smoothly delivered her triplet boys.
Before long, the two of them brought the children right to our door. Unlike their earlier caution, this time both Sabrina Reyes and my mother-in-law were utterly arrogant.
The moment she saw me holding my daughter, Sabrina Reyes’s eyes filled with contempt. “So you only managed a useless girl. That belly of yours really is good for nothing.”
My mother-in-law lovingly cradled one of the three baby boys and carefully held him out for Ethan to see.
“I have something to tell you. The truth is, this child is yours. Remember your wife’s birthday? You got drunk that day, and you and Sabrina ended up together.”
“Sabrina’s so blessed, three sons in one go! From now on the family has a future!”
“Look at Sabrina, then look at your wife and that useless girl. I think you should divorce and marry Sabrina instead.”
Hearing this, Ethan didn’t fly into a rage as he usually did. Instead he nodded along. “Three sons? Truly outstanding. You make a good point, Mom. I suppose I should divorce and marry her.”
When my mother-in-law heard this, she immediately assumed her son had “come to his senses.” She pulled Sabrina Reyes over and the two of them joined in attacking me. “Did you hear that, you penniless wretch? Hurry up and take your useless child and get out. From now on, Sabrina is the lady of this house!”
But the words Ethan said next made the smiles on both their faces freeze instantly. He turned to my mother-in-law and said in a calm but icy voice, “Why should my wife leave? If anyone has to go, it should be you.”
My mother-in-law was stunned, not understanding what was happening. Sabrina Reyes was equally bewildered.
Ethan was in no hurry. He simply turned on the television.
On the screen was the footage of my father-in-law and Sabrina Reyes in the heat of the moment on the very night of my birthday. The longer they watched, the paler the two of them grew, white as a sheet.
In the end, unable to withstand the shock, they both collapsed to the floor, their whole bodies trembling.
Ethan didn’t even bother to glance at them. He only lowered his head to look at the baby in my mother-in-law’s arms. “I have to say, he really is my father’s son. Look closely, the resemblance is uncanny.”
My mother-in-law looked down at the child in her arms as if seeing an apparition, let out a scream, and flung the baby away from her.
Right after, in a fit of madness, she lunged at Sabrina Reyes and slapped her again and again. “You little wretch! You dared to bear a child for my husband?! I’ll beat you to death!”
When Sabrina Reyes finally heard the whole truth, it struck her like a bolt from the blue, and her eyes went blank. She instantly went mad too and fought back wildly against my mother-in-law.
The two of them clawed and tore at each other, neither willing to let go. In the end, Ethan ordered the servants to charge in and pull them apart, then threw them out of the house.
I heard that after being driven out, Sabrina Reyes searched everywhere for my father-in-law like a madwoman. She hoped he would divorce my mother-in-law, formally acknowledge the three children, and marry her.
Unfortunately, my father-in-law only did half of it. He really did divorce, but then he vanished without a trace.
No one could find him anymore.
After that blow, combined with the pressure of raising three children alone, Sabrina Reyes collapsed entirely.
She lost her mind.
In the depths of her breakdown, tragedy followed tragedy, and both she and my mother-in-law came to a grievous end, the two of them gone in a way no one spoke aloud but no one was surprised by. The news of their deaths soon reached my father-in-law’s ears.
Only then did he finally resurface, even shedding a few crocodile tears.
It was just that retribution came for him in the end too.
The night after the funeral, while he was in the throes of passion with yet another lover, he was suddenly struck down by illness, leaving him paralyzed down one side.
From then on he could only lie bedridden, the rest of his life completely robbed of the ability to care for himself. Needless to say, his philandering days were over for good.
As for the three children, we placed them in an orphanage. From then on, no one ever asked after them again.
After everything had finally been settled, I at last came through the end of my postpartum confinement.
That night, Ethan couldn’t help pulling me into his arms, his voice soft and gentle. “Honey, I can finally kiss you again.”
A little shy, I closed my eyes, and let him sink into all the tenderness the night had to offer.
