I caught my boyfriend kissing another woman at the airport, so I grabbed a handsome stranger and kissed him back.
Part 1
“I’ll destroy your career!” my ex hissed.
“My new mistress is the CFO.” The stranger laughed coldly, handed me a black business card, and whispered, “Check the name.”
My bl00d ran cold—he wasn’t just a stranger; he was…
I did not find out my boyfriend had betrayed me through lipstick on his shirt, a suspicious late-night message, or a woman’s name saved under some fake contact.
I found out under the bright, merciless lights of John F. Kennedy International Airport, standing there with a handmade welcome sign in my hands, wearing the tailored trench coat Ethan always said made me look effortlessly chic.
And when I saw him kiss another woman in front of everyone, I did something no heartbroken woman could ever plan in advance.
I grabbed the lapels of a complete stranger’s coat, smiled like he was the man I loved, and kissed him.
That afternoon, I had left the office two hours early.
“I don’t think I’ll be able to pick you up,” I told Ethan over the phone, forcing disappointment into my voice.
“Don’t worry, baby. I’ll grab a cab,” he said warmly.
We had been together for three years.
I worked as a lead data analyst at a communications firm that had recently been acquired by a huge international conglomerate.
Ethan was a real estate consultant.
Now I stood near the arrivals area.
The automatic doors opened.
Then I saw him.
For one glowing second, my whole face lit up.
I stepped forward.
Then Ethan turned.
Not toward me.
Toward a woman waiting across the hall.
Ethan dropped his suitcase, wrapped both arms around her waist, and kissed her.
It was not casual.
It was deep.
Familiar.
Hungry.
The kind of kiss a man gives someone he has truly missed.
I stood frozen.
Then Ethan opened his eyes.
And saw me.
The color drained from his face.
His hands slipped away from the blonde woman.
She turned too.
And there it was.
The truth.
No guilt.
No shame.
Only irritation.
Something inside me turned cold.
I was not going to collapse in front of strangers.
My eyes swept across the airport.
Then I saw him.
A man walking toward the exit.

Tall.
Elegant.
Wearing a bespoke charcoal-gray coat.
He had the quiet confidence of someone used to being watched.
I walked straight toward him, grabbed his lapels, and hugged him.
“I am so sorry,” I whispered near his ear. “Please just play along for ten seconds.”
His dark eyes met mine.
Behind me, Ethan marched toward us.
“Isabella! What the hell are you doing?”
For the first time, the stranger spoke.
His voice was dangerously smooth.
“Darling,” he said, looking at me, “who is this man?”
I turned toward Ethan with a sweet smile.
“No one important.”
The blonde woman stepped closer.
“Ethan, who is she?”
I looked at her.
Then I did the unthinkable.
I rose onto my toes, placed one hand against the stranger’s chest, and kissed him.
When I stepped back, my heart was pounding.
I expected the stranger to look angry.
Instead, a small smile touched the corner of his mouth.
“Interesting,” he murmured.
Ethan grabbed my elbow.
“Enough,” he snapped.
The stranger’s smile vanished.
“Let her go,” he said quietly.
Ethan laughed, sharp and nervous.
“This is none of your business.”
“It became my business when you touched her.”
Ethan released my arm, but leaned in, his breath hot against my ear.
“Listen to me,” he whispered with venom. “Cassandra is the CFO of the firm backing my new venture. You make a scene here, and I will personally see to it that your career is destroyed. My firm is about to sign a contract with your agency. One phone call, and you won’t have a desk tomorrow.”
I felt the old pain rise again.
But before I could speak, the stranger gave a cold, soft laugh.
“And what exactly did Ethan tell you?”
Ethan’s jaw tightened.
“Who are you?”
The stranger reached into the inside pocket of his coat and pulled out a black business card.
He did not hand it to Ethan.
He handed it to me.
When I looked down at the embossed silver letters, my bl00d ran completely cold…
